Scones and Biscuits
A quick versatile recipe that can be made either sweet or savoury!
Basic Biscuits
2 cups flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda
1 cup milk
⅓ cup butter
Pre-heat oven to 450F.
Mix all dry ingredients together - flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda.
Cut butter into small pieces and cut into the dry ingredients until mixture is crumbly and looks like sand.
Mix in the milk slowly to create a stiff dough. You may not use all the milk.
Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Drop dough by spoonful onto parchment paper on tray.
Bake 10-12 minutes until brown.
Cool 3 minutes.
Savoury Glaze:
¼ cup butter - melted
1 tsp dried parsley
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp italian seasoning
Mix all together. Brush biscuits with glaze before baking.
Cheesy Biscuits: Prepare basic biscuits with these additions: Add ½ tsp garlic powder to dry ingredients. Add ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese to dough.
For Sweet biscuits:
Add 1/2 cup sugar or 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup fun bits - raisins, dried fruits, choc chips
1 tsp cinnamon
For chocolate add 2-3 TBSP coco powder
